Dear Colleagues,
I want to share with you news of upcoming leadership changes at Northern California Public Media - KRCB Television and Radio and KPJK Television. At the end of the year I will be stepping down as President and CEO after 38 years at the helm. It has been a remarkable run, allowing me to grow the institution from scratch - securing the license, finding the land, building the building, raising the money for the project, and finally signing on KRCB Television in December 1984 and KRCB Radio in September 1994. And, we acquired the former KCSM Television (now KPJK) in August of 2018, maintaining that valuable institution for the San Francisco mid-peninsula and South Bay region.
Our Board and I welcome our Content Manager, Darren LaShelle, into the role of President and CEO. Some of y'all know Darren from his 20 years at the Toledo joint licensee, WGTE, before he joined NorCal Public Media 5 years ago. He is as passionate as I am to utilize this public resource of which we are stewards to encourage engagement and involvement in our communities. I can say without hesitation that Darren will do an excellent job in carrying this organization into its next decades of service to community and the entire Bay Area region.
I have been fortunate indeed to be able to bring to maturity an institution which I founded, and I must say it has been an amazing trip.
Thanks for the outstanding work you all do with your stations. There are many promises to keep before us.
Sincerely,
Nancy Dobbs
President & CEO
