Hello California stations,

In light of the news regarding the FCC’s letter to NPR and PBS, Western
States president, Jim Rondeau extended an invitation to this NOON webinar
regarding CPB funding scenarios.

For any of you who didn’t receive the FCC memo, I’ve attached it here.

Good morning, WSPRers!

Many station leaders are thinking through the potential impacts of a
reduction or elimination of federal funding for public media. What are the
possible outcomes? What should our boards, licensees and local leaders know
about the issue? How can we best advocate for the interests of our
organizations?

Last fall, the Station Resource Group released a white paper outlining four
possible scenarios (attached). On Thursday, January 30 at 12pm PT / 1pm MT,
report author Steve Bass will join us for a discussion. You're invited to
join in and bring your questions. (Zoom link here

Steve recently retired from a successful career leading public media
organizations, most recently as CEO of Oregon Public Broadcasting. We'll
ask him to share some highlights and where he sees our industry heading
next.

It's been a busy year already. We're looking forward to an active season of
WSPR Conversations. If there's a topic that would be particularly
interesting to you, please reach out.

Your Western States Public Radio Team,

Jim Rondeau, KLCC

Brian Duggan, KUNR

Breeze Richardson, Aspen Public Radio

Kerry Bringhurst, Utah Public Radio

Favian Perez, Nevada Public Radio
