[CPR] PRSS TRUST ELECTION

For NPR and non NPR members who use the PRSS...
Please vote in this Election. As noted below, it requires  at least 50% of members to vote in order for the election to be successful. It looks like only 4 or 5 California stations have voted to date.

And we are still less than 35% participation, nationwide. California's percentage is even lower.

Pete Lowenstein, who is up for this position, worked on our behalf for many years, building one state of the art satellite system after the other.

But he did much more. I recall visiting various lawmakers with Pete over the years to urge support for interconnection legislation. He wasn't just the senior technical VP, he was an effective advocate, dragging anyone who would go with him to tell our story to secure the funding. I know this election isn't about Pete, it's about stewardship of our interconnection. Nevertheless, I think It will be sad if less than 50% of PRSS managers don't vote.

Please take the few minutes that it will take. If you have any questions or need help to cast your ballot, please contact Twanna Clark at [email protected] or 202.513.2058.

Do it for Pete... :)

Thanks,
Frank

The PRSS is urgently asking all general managers of interconnected participating stations to cast their e-ballots in the Public Radio Satellite Interconnection System Charitable Trust election.

On the morning of Tuesday, May 17, 2016, all general managers of PRSS participating stations received an email with a log-in username and a password unique to each person. Please take this log-in username and password and go to https://eballot4.votenet.com/npr/login.cfm to sign in and to register your vote. More information about the election is available at http://prss.org/news/voting-public-radio-satellite-interconnection-system-charitable-trust-has-begun

It is imperative that general managers of participating stations vote as soon as possible in the Public Radio Satellite Interconnection System Charitable Trust elections. As of today, May 23, 2016, we've had less than 9 percent participation -- only 32 people have voted out of a pool of 362 eligible voters.

According to the agreement governing the trust, ** at least 50 percent of all participating stations must approve the proposed candidate **. Until a candidate receives approval from at least 50 percent of the participating stations, the trustee seat will remain vacant. General managers are asked to please cast their votes NOW. As reported, Pete Loewenstein, formerly Vice President of NPR’s Distribution division, has agreed to stand for appointment as a trustee to replace Henry Geller, who has served as a trustee since 1987.

The Public Radio Satellite Interconnection System Charitable Trust is the entity that owns the satellite transponder capacity and national operating system equipment located in Washington, D.C., used by the Public Radio Satellite System (PRSS). It has three trustees, one of which, Mr. Geller, has announced his plans to step down from his responsibilities as a trustee.

We appreciate your participation in the continued maintenance and oversight of The Public Radio Satellite Interconnection System Charitable Trust and the PRSS as a whole. If you have any questions about this trustee election, please contact Twanna Clark at [email protected] or 202.513.2058.

I already voted!

Thanks for pushing everyone in California, Frank.

Hey, I have another question for you. For CPB requirement of two FT
positions, it says "managerial and/or programming." Just to clear this up,
you can have two managers. You don't need to have a FT program position,
correct?

Thanks...

Yes, thanks Frank.

I voted, and I encourage everyone to vote.  Please!

The Public Radio Satellite System cannot continue without its parent, The PRSS Trust.  And The Trust must be comprised of three trustees elected by the entirety of satellite system users.  One of the current three trustees is stepping down.  There is a candidate to replace him.

PLEASE VOTE, everyone!
